Default Unloading BAD

So I built this box 2 weeks ago for a friend. Drove to IL from NC to meet him (hes an xbox friend Ive known for a few years) and built it while I was there. 2 Zv3 18s wired to 1/2 ohm on a lanzar opti 2k or a sundown 3k.

Box specs are 8.9 cubic feet (after port, subs, wood, 45s, errthang) with 15sq inches of port per cube, port is 30" x 4.5" x 25" long. Tuned to 34.

Got it playing and it wont play anything below 45. Unloads BAD. Makes a terrible noise.

I assume the port mouth is too close to the subs. How can they fix this? Im not there anymore to work on it, but I want them to retain this box but just modify it somehow because I built the shit out of it. Braced all to hell and back, rounded port, 45s.. flush mount.. Any ideas? I have a few but want to hear others first

where is the port opening located

inside the box?

edit: aaaah i see it. only way to "save" the box would be to extend the port down the back of the box more...

Thats my idea. I figured out if they made the port "tunnel" come down another 11", it would leave about 6" at the bottom of the box at the new port opening (theres a 45 there as well) and it would change the specs to this

8.5 cubic feet
30hz tuning
15.7 sq inches of port per cube

I think it will work alot better than how it is now. That will give them something to load off. It would only play from 45+, and peaking at around 48-50.. it was loud AF though at 48hz probably close to a 49 or 50 sealed up

are you sure they are wired correctly? I see nothing wrong with those specs at all, nor the port/box, aside from that maybe a divider between the two subs might help

I actually just made a box just like that and in a suv. It played down to 25 on tones but the 40 was the only real notes u hear weird but i want to say its the port up that hurts it. I had to do the same to max the room for the subs

it 100% sounds like you had the subs out of phase. I did this with one of my subs in my 4st four 12s setup and it sounded like absolute crap, and sounded like it was unloading all the time; just like you're describing.

Nice box...I hope it gets figured out because it really looks like you put some work and time into it.

Anything is possible... I built the subs and wired them up and built the box in like 3 days. I couldve easily wired them wrong, or mixed up a red/black terminal on the sub when I put them on the basket which wouldve confused me when wiring it up.
