Default SA 12 4th order

so i've had an sa 12 in a regular ported box for almost 2 years and its getting to be a bit too boomy for my taste in music now. I was going to just throw it in a sealed box but i'm gonna give this 4th order thing a try.

So far my calculations are 1 cu ft of sealed air space, 2 cu ft of ported air space with 32sqin of port area and tuned just under 50Hz. here's some fun google sketchup pics i made.

oh, and its going to be all birch with biscuit joints. think i'm probably gonna sand it down real smooth and stain it and see how i like it.

other info:
vehicle: 00 tahoe/94 honda civic hatch
sub: SA-12 D4
amp: RD 1750.1
1/0 Knu wiring (tahoe)
dc power 230A alt (tahoe)
optima red top (i know. once it dies i'll swap it for an xs d3400) (tahoe)
H/U: alpine 9856 (tahoe)

mainly it stays in the honda. i have an 18" RD alpha in the tahoe that lost a coil and hardly gets used. in the mood to do a little car audio maintenance this season. honda needs some electrical upgrades and i'm thinking about getting a different amp since i just switch the 1750.1 between my two vehicles right now.

pic of rides

ANYWAYS this is my first post as well. Please let me know your comments/suggestions on my box. thanks! -Matt

Looks good... Me like 4ths tuned in and welcome to the site.

Edit- If you get bored and want a good 4th order read, it's a long thread but has lots of good stuff in here...

4th orders why are some people so quiet with them?

wow now thats a read! i'll go through it when i get back from work today. just want to be 100% sure on everything before i start cutting up this nice $50 piece of wood LOL

and i forgot to mention it will be mounted regularly. i probably should invert it due to the larger amount of power i'll be running to it to be able to smell any burning. but we'll make due lol

Should sound good, but I would do 40 squares minimum myself.

so i scrapped the 4th order business and decided to just go ported. this should fit very nicely in the honda and get me some more room for the rear facing port to resonate off the back hatch. this will also be the first time i've done any kerfing so this should be interesting LOL done some reading up on it already though

Watch the YouTube video by carardiofabrication that shows how to do a kerf. It's a great video and he goes step by step. I've built a few boxes with kerfs and I liked the way all of them sounded.
