Default "box designer"

This topic has been bothering me for a few days now. I've been trying to find someone to design an aero ported box and i feel like all i see are google sketch all-stars.... in my opinion, it looks like they spend more time making the blueprints look good rather than making the best box for that specific cabin. I drive a sedan and I may be over thinking this so please correct me if i'm wrong but wouldn't the dimensions of my cabin be just as important as the dimensions of my trunk? what do you guys think?

Yes, but that differ from how much power or subs your running. I mean there's alot of factor like the position of the sub or port which create a loading and coloration. But you also consider the box volume depending on how big is he cabin and the length from the box to the head rest.

If you want a disign that is made specifically for your subs, power and car. Then hit up Pete on pwkdesigns.com/?page_id=95 .... Its a bit pricey and the wait is like 2 weeks to 4 weeks but its worth the wait and getting it rite the first time instead of getting a design that sound like shit then you pay someone like $200 to make it then end up buying another design and box.

he's one of the guys im talking about....i've heard good and bad reviews about him from how long it takes to get the product, to him being a "hit or miss" . on his website he asks for the trunks dimensions as well as the make, model and year of the car just like all the designers do, my question is why doesnt anyone ask for the dimensions of the cabin along with the trunk? if i give him my trunks measurements and tell him the car its going in, all he really knows is the exact trunk measurements from the trunk. and if he's not getting the cabins measurements from me than where is he getting them from?

and im not trying to bash anyone including him that's not my goal. all i want is to have a box made just for my car...if im going to spend that type of money than i want to see cold hard facts as to how and why that design works best for me, not some cool emailed design as to what its going to look like...i'm going to listen to it a lot more than im look at it so aesthetics are the not even a concern lol you know what i mean?

i knew a designer than would measure the entire cabin of the vehicle. he took into account they sub,how much power you planned on running and the type of music you listened to mostly. unfortunately he has since stopped doing it.

when he measured my vehicle he told me what my approx res freq would be and he was right.

Seriously buck on here does some great designs. For the cost it's a no brainier. Sometimes to have to experiment, there is no guarantee it's going to be perfect. I've had great results with his work

To be honest, for the most part, the reason we ask for the trunk dimensions are not for obtaining or calculating what the Fo may be per se for your particular build, no it is MUCH more simple than that.

When someone is willing to pay, I do indeed take into account and calculate everything, via the drivers, power, enclosure displacement, trunk volume, AND cabin volume, when a vehicle is brought to me, I can calculate nearly all and be DEAD ON. But, that costs, and no one wants to pay. Someone bringing his/her vehicle to me is nearly the same as obtaining cabin dimensions for cost and work/time going into the design, so, eh.

in reality, I don't believe most fancy insanely calculated designs will be much louder or sound much better than a sketch on a napkin based on ratios "square in per cubic ft"

I'd love to see a head to head design and build.
(pay for a few designs and build them all for the same vehicle and woofer)

Tell Howie to do a comparison, I'm working on a design based on his cabin already all he would need to do is build a 3ft ported box to use against it.
