Default 2 hdc4 15 in a 4th order

ok so i started with 2 hdc3 motors with dc audio level 5 cones and baskets in around 11 to 12 cubes ported with 2 6 inch aero all firing back on a soundigital 8k in my trunk of 96 impala. but i ordered 2 new hdc4 15s instead of using the hdc3 ones. they do alright in the ported box. i thinking of doin them in a 4 th order. i got around 16 cubes if i go 4th. i was thinking either 4 sealed into 12 ported or 5 sealed into 11 ported. as far as the port thou i dont really know what to do there.. i will be porting it throu the rear deck. i ve built boxes for years and this is my first 4 th order. i would appreciate some help/ advice for this one...thanks in advance

4th order seems like the way to go in your trunk. I'd go with 4 sealed and 12 ported.

Check out the 4th order thread if you haven't already.

With the QTS being that low the subs will work better in a standard ported enclosure or a 6th rather than a 4th. You want a QTS .5 or higher for an efficient 4th order sub.

So zv3's arent a good 4th order sub? Lol. Jared was doing a 160+ with 4 15's in a 4th with th zv3's. Mine is doing work as well. Qts .427

Didn't say it wouldn't work, said it wouldn't be as efficient... a proper 4th needs very little power to get a ton of output... Steve Mick's buddy sobel's astro gets into the 50's on 2200 watts... Then again that is one of the most efficient 4ths I have seen as far as design and subs.

Im messin with ya. But ya those efficient 4ths are mind blowing to me. Mystery. And those hdc4's have a very low qts

They definitely get down and dirty. My brother had a set of 15"s in his cherokee that loved tons of power and played very low

Lol, I have been picking steves brain as much as I can about the 4ths he has done and reading a ton of stuff from HACKMUNCH here lately... Those guys pull amazing numbers on low power... yeah 9 18's in an astro should be loud, but on 2200 watts Its still foreign to me but HACK swears it is all about using the right sub for the job in the first place so you aren't fighting an inherent lack of efficiency by stuffing a sub that thrives in ported enclosures into a sealed enclosure.

They are both all about tuning the ported side to sealed resonance and using an impedance sweep before the loading wall goes in to find actual sealed resonance
