Default Building box in sealed off trunk question

I'm wanting to try something new for my set up. Plus my trunk rattle is extremely bad. So next week I'm going to attempt to build a 8.7 cu ft common chamber ported box INSIDE my trunk for my two 15's, firing into the cabin sealed off from trunk in my 01 Impala. Never have I done either one. Pretty sure I can handle the box but one little question on sealing it off.

I spent about 4 hrs researching the placement of the box and didn't find what I wanted to know. Im going to do a one peice baffle to put between the cabin and box.

If installing my baffle about a 1 ft from cabin will I lose a good amount of bass since it's not all the way up to the seats?

I don't want to block access to my fuel pump or strut towers. Everything from the baffle forward will be sound deadened including the rear deck. Also the back of the box will be a couple inches from my trunk lid so I could use that space between the cabin and box for my amp.

Box measurements are W: 38 H: 17 D: 28, as far as tuning I'd like to be around 30-35 hz. Never built a box with aero ports but from what I've read and the width of the box I can get away with two 6" ports in between the subs one at top and one at bottom. Haven't quite figured out length of ports yet.

Thanks for any help and advice in advance.

I've read enough to see how it's done but out of all the builds and discussions I've looked at every box is pushed all the way up to the cabin. Will it hurt to have it recessed in the trunk a foot, as long as it's 100% sealed off from baffle back?

Ya I have seen it in a few builds where they have a slanted back seat and don't want to try and figure out angles

Then do the foam in a garbage around that and if u ever have to get in there it won't be a mess and it's easy to remove and seals pretty good too

Sweet, thanks for the info. I'll have it in the build log next week hopefully it could help others in the future with a sealed trunk or how to build a box in a trunk.
