Default Trade off between lows and higher bass

Built my second enclosure over the weekend. 3.5cu after displacements at 29hz with 13sq/in per cube For 2 power hx2 10s. This build went a whole lot smoother than the first. Planned more, 45'd the corners, etc.

Anyway, it hits the lower end with authority just like I wanted, but anything higher than 45-50ish starts to trail off dramatically. When I put it in winISD or bass box 6(can't remember which it was), it showed this is where it would start to drop. Just didn't expect it to be that drastic.

Is there anything I can do for the next time to get a larger usable response out of the box? If it's just a trade off ill have to live with then I'll choose low tuning every time and have my mids make up for it.

Make it a little larger
Or what I would do is tune up around 33-35
You would be amazed how quickly tuning that low will effect your output

Tuned way too low for the majority of commercial music...

You want your tuning (in a ported enclosure) to be slightly lower than the center of the bandwidth you intend to play. Your current tuning is pretty close to the bottom of the audible spectrum, I'd bring it up to 35-38hz.

One possible alternative would be to choose an enclosure alignment that has a flatter response in the range your wanting to play.

Default Trade off between lows and higher bass

I listen to a lot of Bay Area hip hop, drum and bass, drumstep and things like that, so the tuning isn't too far off (or at least I don't think it is) from the frequencies I want loudest.

I don't know anyone in San Antonio that has loud systems, so if I want to hear low ground pounder bass I have to do it myself lol

My last box was a pair of sa8s at 35 and I found myself wanting much more full lower bass. Probably could have gotten away with the higher tuning cause of the increased cone area.

Would something like going with a bit less port area have any effect on the reach of the subs? Probably a dumb question, but I'm still new to box building.

This what I figured I'd have to do, but are there any mids out there that can handle from where I'm lacking in 5.25 size? Just seems there wouldn't be enough cone area there to get it. Wouldn't be against learning to fiberglass panels, but spare Volvo s40 are difficult to find with leather for a decent price.

Emailed them at psychoport. very helpful. I was having issues getting the port area I needed and the right tuning with the space I had to work with. Port would have to be 90'd in the box and end up in a weird spot between the subs but facing more towards one or the other. This box is literally as big as it could be and get it into my car. Had to go in through the back door and slide through the opening behind the seats.

Flip side, if I had an adjustable port I wouldn't have had to make this post lol
