Default help me with port please ( dual re sx 18" )

im throwing together a just for kicks box in my suburban because i just happen to have a pair of re sx 18s ( dual 2 ) sitting in my spare room collecting dust.
going with the tried and true - subs up port back - im going to mess with the box design to be exactly 16 cubes for the subs after port and displacment.
box is going to be 48" wide height is 21" and leingth is open to play with to get desired cu.

found one tuning calculator telling me that i will need a port 5" tall by 46.5" wide and 22.9" long to equal 34hz tuning.

i highly doubt thats correct - can any one advise please before i toss this together ?

will a slot port 5" tall by 46.5" wide be enough port space for a pair of 18s wired to .5 ohm on a ddm2a ? and if the height is good - then how long will my port need to be to give me 33 or 34 hz tuning ?

same calculator says 10" tall by 46.5 wide would need to be 30 inches long to be tuned at 33hz and 27 inches long to be tuned at 34hz
seems more apropriate - but is that too much port for a pair of 18s with good x max ?

That's 14.5" per cube. That's enough to play a wide range and be decently loud, more port and you'll lose bandwidth but gain output

A 14" aero at like 13" long will get you to 33-34hz @16 cubes net. Will be enough port per cube for good output and good bandwidth

Sintorman built one with a router, cutout jig, and layers of wood... psychoacoustics will make you a pshchoport as well with big radius flares or whatever you want. Adjustable or solid, and you might be able to special order 14" sono tubes from Lowes or Home Depot...

i was thinking of grabing a 12" sonotube and cutting it and splicing in 2.25" section and then fiberglassing the thing together while somehow keeping it round.
most likely im going to try that. cause sonotube is generaly cheap enough for a starter port on a quickie box for fun

i paid buck to design me the box i want to keep perminent in the burb for 4 si ht 18"s
but that build wont start for another little while

6.283" section added to a 12" will give you the proper circumference for a 14" diameter circle. You could try to find a cheap 14" flower pot that is cylindrical instead of tapered?

I'm at Lowes almost every day, I'll ask about 14" sono tubes. They might just not stock them. Probably only slightly more than a 12" sono tube... I know they make 16" sono tubes from seeing a guy on here with one as a port in a 4th order wall
