I'm getting ready to build my new box, I have all my plans ready and not I'm just trying to source some wood that isn't MDF or HD grade crap. I cannot find arauco cabinet pine either.
Unfortunately there is not a lumber yard within 100 miles that carries or is willing to order Baltic birch in any bigger than a 5 x 5 sheet. Which is what I really wanted to use, there is a place close that has B2 grade cabinet birch. Which from what I have gather is nearly void free. I feel would work nice and is like $48 a sheet, But I need some opinions? Would you use it? What should expect with it?
Next I found a marine grade plywood that is AB grade and is complete void free, he said it is composed of birch, maple, pine. Not sure in what order, but I do no that there is not a veneer on it. Which is fine as I'm going to be carpeting the box. It is $90 a sheet, which is still ok with me. I budgeted about $100 for the wood, and I only need one sheet of 4 x 8.
Which would you use? Price aside which would result in a better box?
