if you wana do a box or a wall ? you could gain more cubic ft for a wall id imagine - but youd have to build inside the car - and it would probably sound weird sealed up - but with the windows down or a door open man it would jam.

is it for daily bumping ? the q is a great daily sub on music

You'd want at least 3 4" ports per 18, 2 6" each would be better. 12cuft net would just be enough for the 2, but material and port/sub displacement will bring your gross cuft up closer to 14.
Maybe post up dimensions you have to work with and someone will be able to help you.

if you can stack in enough electrical to handle or barely almost handle the pair of 18s then do them. that much cone in such a small airspace will slam - it could be a realley fun demo viechle

but if its your only viechle - daily driving to work and back grocery getter bla bla
then its not smart to turn it in to a all out ground pounder. you might end up needing better suspension for the weight - a small bank of batterys and a high out put alternator as well as sound deadning the car and a front stage that can keep up with the subs = dumping tons of $$ in to a car that you may or may not LOVE.

i dont recomend people to build cars that they dont LOVE... no sence in droping that cash on less than ideal for what you can work with ya kno ?

Why 2 18's or 1 12? Why not just 1 18?
