Default Need help with winisd

When modeling subs in winisd, is it best to decide on the box with cabin gain simulated or without? Some boxes look great until I add the cabin gain filter, and some model like shit until I turn on the cabin gain filter.

So what's the best way to decide on the volume/tuning that will be better?

Its all gona come down to experience and there is no cabin gain in winisd you can simulate it all you want but the only way to know for sure is testing with rta setup and keep in mind very vehicle will act different ... as for me I do not simulate any kind of cabin gain I know there will be some but I dont try to simulate it if that makes sense

By cabin gain I meant with the linkwitz transform filter like the how to describes on realmofexcursion.com

So for a beginner, what's the safest way to decide the best enclosure size/tuning? Just model it like normal and roll with it?

Tune it where you want it tuned say 30hz for example cabin gain where ever it might peek at is only going to amplify it not take it away .... size of box and port area is directly related to the subs you are using and the power you are feeding them and in my opinion has almost nothing to do with cabin gain ... that trick on roe is only to give you an idea of the response curve that being said its wrong and thats why I dont use it

What I have done in the past when I started learning about box design is just try it get some cheap 3/4" plywood and build the box you designed if it sounds and preformed the way you want it to take time and build a good one out of birch ply or mdf if it sucks and sounds like crap you only have a little bit of money it so not such a big deal it takes a long time that way but I learned alot playing around with all kinds of box's
