Default Sundown X10 & SAZ-1200D enclosure design

Hopefully will have this system set up in my truck soon, i've been staring at this stuff sitting in my bedroom since October.

I am looking for constructive critisism or suggestions from you folks that have been doing this way longer than i have.

First off what i have for electrical in my '07 Ranger ext. cab to run this system:

170A Mechman S Series alternator
Audiotechnix Big 3 kit (0ga CCA)
2 G65 rebranded Northstar AGM batteries (1 front & 1 back*)
SHCA 0ga CCA run front to back*

*-purchasing soon

Equipment being used is as described in thread title, i am going to be using a Sundown X10 d2 sub with a SAZ-1200D amp.

This is the box design i've come up with

Didn't check off the sub upward box but that is how i'd like to install it.

I have a little bit of dampener material left over and was going to line the net portion of the enclosure with it, i also plan to use two peices of 1" doweling run through the enclosure 2" from the sides of the sub for additional bracing.

What do you folks think?

I read that 2ft was the upper limit on rms power for the X10.

The height and depth are at my maximum limits already, i don't really want to go any wider so i still have some use of the little area behind the seats that is left.

Thank you for your input though, it is appreciated.

It's funny bc your width/depth is perfect for a rear loaded horn. But your vehicle is not. Port is pretty long it's going to take up a lot of volume that will be one big box.

Using 1" thick wood? Good choice

You should fire the port out of the side of the box if you can, but you'd have to play with the port size again to get the desired tuning. If you don't want to, don't worry you will have pretty good results regardless.

Overall you are looking good though!

Yeah the port length isn't something i expected to get tuned to that freq.

I was considering going with doubled 3/4" but that added volume would have pretty much taken up the whole area behind the seats, that and i probably would have tuned to 33-32hz. A local Rona hardware around here carries 1" MDF though.

Aiming the port to the side? hmmm might give that some consideration as there will only be 2" of clearance at the top end of the box to my seat and maybe 4-5" at the bottom and i do not want any air noise to come from that.

Thank you very much for your input.

Any chance someone could whip up a cut sheet for me based on the design in the original post?

Didn't have a whole lot of free time this summer, never got a box built for this x10.

I see Sundown finally posted detailed spec's for this sub and i've had to tweak my final design.

I ended up going with a box design that is 23w x 17d x 15h and this is how i planned to put it together sub facing up with 1" mdf and a 2" wide port 30" long (physical) tuned to 33hz.

I just need a check on my planned cut list, it is as such:

a) 16x13
b) 23x13
c) 15x13
d) 20x13
e) 13x13
f) 17x13

And of course two pieces 23x17 for the top and bottom

F is incorrect, should be 16" long

also, would look cleaner (if leaving bare or painting) if you made E 14 long, D 18" and C 16" so the screw holes aren't on the front face

Thank you for the check Jeff, It will most likely end up with a rockguard style finish so i'm not to worried about the exterior right now.

eta- Dammit! just double checked and my numbers where mixed up, don't really want a third leg on the port and i'm 1" over the limit for a L shape.

revision time
