Default Reccomended port area for a SA 15

Right people I've been playing with a few different subs in my Jetta and now have a sa 15. I'm currently running a temp setup 3.5cuft sub forward port forward with a 6x6 port giving me 36"^ port area. It sounds ok but I'm pretty sure I can get much better as the old school Rockford he15 I was running before hit harder on certain tunes.
I've been troving the net and found an article saying the perfect port to vol ratio is 16sq.ins per cuft which would make a port are of 56"^ can someone help me out here thank in advance!

I've read the ultimate configuration is port area equalling sub area it kinda makes sense as the port air mimmicks the driver movement what's your views on placement in a sedan I'm on the 3rd box modification now and not feeling like I'm getting anywhere!

I'm currently tuned to around 35hz which I've read is the golden frequency for the sa 15. My temporary port is only 36 sq in which is a little small for the 3.5 vol but I'm not getting the dangerous movement I was getting on certain frequencies when I had a smaller port. When you say sub up port drivers side do you mean sub firing up towards the lower rear window line and port facing the drivers side rear wheel well? Sorry if I'm sounding stupid but it's hard visualising without pictures!
