Default Box Comparison Question

If I wanted to compare how a sound performs in a sealed versus ported box, would i use the same net volume in each case. So for instance I build a 1 cft sealed box, would I need to build a 1cft ported box? Im assuming this are minus the displacements and such.

Apples to oranges in my opinion. But generally speaking, I think you're on the right track.

Its kind of a toss up seeing as how sealed "tuning" is typically 40hz+ from my understanding. I don't see many ported enclosures tuned that high unless its bass boxing/competition use.

No
Subs will require different volumes for optimal sealed vs ported
Example
A single 12 may need 1cf sealed or 2cf ported (roughly)
This will change on different woofers

You can take that 1cf box slap a port externally and it will play but it will be far from an optimal box

American bass xd8, I just bought a pair and was thinking about trying to run them sealed, but not sure how they will perform versus a ported application. Space will be very limited, as these will be going in a 2010 RAM under the rear seats.

Those look pretty good in about 1-2 ft^3 sealed, or about 2 ft^3 ported in the mid 30's. Attached is a comparison of a few enclosures. 0.5 sealed is a little anemic on the low end, 2 sealed is much better if you have the room. Vented will give you about a 3dB boost between 35-60hz on the same power. I used 500 watts for this model even though your power may be different. I modeled a few smaller vented boxes but the ports will get really complicated and the response doesn't look great.

Why doesn't AB provide any box specs??

I know they're good but that has me questioning them on that.

For now I plan on using an MB Quartz ONX 1.1000D. Can you explain to me what the middle graph represents? Also where did you get the t/s parameters from, they look different than what AB has on their site.

They have a couple box designs for like 3 of their subs but not all of them which is odd.
