I would go with 3 6" aeros for 2 15's. Although that's a pretty general answer

There is no rule of thumb when it comes to a 4th order ratio. The smaller the ratio the flatter it will play. The bigger the ratio the more effecient it will be.

But if your thinking 2 15's in a 4th in only 8 cubes it prolly won't turn out the best

What would be ideal cubes per 15" for sealed and ported?

It depends on the sub. My SI HT15's only need ~1.5 ft^3 or so sealed to get a resonant frequency of a little under 50hz because their TSPs indicate a really low fs and loose compliance. Other subs will require more room. There's a very good chance that with only 8 ft^3 to work with a regular vented enclosure with (2) 15"s will be quite a bit louder than a 4th with 12"s or 15"s in the same amount of space.

I'm running 2 8" aero ports for my 2 15's. A single 12" aero or 4 6" aeros will also be good. I would go standard ported alignment for the trunk. The 4 6" aero is 113" of port as is a single 12" and 2 8" aeros is about 100" of port. If you are building for loud tune mid 30's with any of those options for port area and if you are building for daily tune high 20's with those port areas and you'll be really happy with the efficiency of the enclosure. What 15's are you running?

i can get 4 cubes each per 15. i kinda want 4 12s the prob is my max is 44.5 widex18 on the front panel i would have to cut angles for 4 12s taking up airspace for ported. my trunk does get a little wider after the trunk hinges i could do a 4th order ive just never built one before. those dam ultras is why i cant decide for sure lol.. 2 15s would def be the simpler build but the cone area of the 12s still tempts me at that price

Use the 15s and go regular ported. I dont think you will be as happy nor will the results likely be what you want. You will have to run a peaky small ratio bp as opposed to a nice flat response from a properly built and tuned bp. If you are set on a 4th id recommend less cone area and a larger ratio. Good luck with your build!

Those 15's probably won't do nearly as well on low notes as a sundown x series. How low do you want to go and what kind of change you planning to spend on the woofers and what power?
