Question 4hp in a 4th order?

Would my 15" tc5200 thats been re-coned do well in a 4th order?
I was thinking 2:1 with 1.5^ft sealed side.(TC's website says they need under 1^ft sealed)
I dont know where to tune the ported chamber.
I read that 45hz in normal, so I thought I would do 40 hz...

Yeah single sub.
I have about 7 cu. ft. to work with gross lol.
I am going for daily tune not spl, not sure if that makes a difference with tuning?

I'm at work all day so I can't model anything, but the stock 5200 had a super low QTS and high EBP, indicating it would probably do better in a vented alignment.

6th order is out of my capability to model right.
It was just a thought.
In sealed it sounds like a bell above 50hz.
I have turned to x-over down till it got tamed.
I wonder if thats the drivers sound, or the sealed alignment not being right for this sub.
The box is lightly stuffed with polyfill.
I have a ported design and wood now, and will be building the box this week.

That's not surprising. A sealed enclosure isn't going to provide enough energy around resonance to boost the low end due to the low compliance. You're probably really efficient around 50hz but roll off below that. A vented enclosure will get the bottom end up.

Here's some models. Green is a sealed enclosure at 4 ft^3. Low end sucks bad. Blue is 3 ft^3 vented at 30hz, which shows a 9dB gain in the low end around 30hz, lol. Pink is a 4th order with 1.5 ft^3 sealed and 4 ft^3 ported at 45hz. Honestly it doesn't look bad at all. There's a big peak at tuning but that happens in all 4th orders and shouldn't be as drastic in the car due to cabin gain. I played around with a few more 4th designs and 1.5 ft^3 sealed seems to be the sweet spot. You could go as large as 2 ft^3 sealed for a sealed resonance around 40hz if you wanted, but I wouldn't go any larger than that. Seeing it now, a 4th order would work very well. Either that or a simple ported should both be good performers.

Thanks for going to trouble of plotting these out!
That peak looks drastic in the 4th, but damn it sure has some output where it peaks!
The ported looks really good though.
The design I have is like 3.6ft^3 as 32hz
It might be a lil more peaky than that, but not by much I wouldnt think

Would a 6th order do better, or is there a way to smooth out that peak at 45hz with the 4th order?
