Question Four 8" clamshell isobaric bandpass ‼️

Thinking of doing four eights in a clamshell isobaric bandpass enclosure.

I know isobaric is impractical and obsolete blah blah. This is a retro type system for my station wagon. It's all for fun, so don't get you panties in a wad.

Conditions:
It will be low powered: @ 150w per sub.
Amps are not high current so I need a 4ohm load per driver.
The cheaper the subs the better.

The first subs that come to mind are infinities, Dayton classics, & Jbl gto( if I can find them)

I assume higher sensitivity speakers would be preferable given my lack of wattage. The infinity 8's jump out at me. That said I'm not looking to break any SPL records.

Thoughts?

Do you mean "true" isobaric? You mention a clamshell configuration as well.

That Dayton is going to be far more efficient in the passband than anything else. I know the Infinities are supposedly something like 91dB @ 1w/1m, but they're really close to 81dB 1w/1m. Never pay attention to efficiency or sensitivity ratings for subs. They enclosure will change your measured efficiency anyway.

I did some quick modeling, and the Infinity will only need a tiny enclosure in a bandpass (assuming a 4th order here). If you load two drivers isobarically, you'll only need about 0.25 ft^3 on the sealed side for an fb of about 45hz. That's reaaaaallly tiny, lol. The Daytons are going to take a minimum of double that to get to an fb of about 50hz. The infinities also have much greater excursion capability and will handle a lot more power, but the Daytons will be about 3-4dB louder on the same power all things the same.

I mean two isobaric pairs of eights ( clamshell config) in a bandpass enclosure.
As far as 4th or 6th order goes I was going to let the drivers decide that.

The Dayton's & the infinities are about the same price.
The xmax and the(listed) sensitivity on the infinity subs are what jumped put at me as far as they are concerned. I don't know of another 8" in the price range that can match it. Maybe pay a little more and get Tang bands

That said I don't have a ton of power to work with, if I used the amps I plan. 2 yamaha YPA-1000's bridged. I think they're rated at @ 120w a channel

The price isn't the greatest, but they are really good eight inchers.
If it were up to me, I'd choose them over the infinities, but then again, that's just me.
I just remembered I have the JBL version of the infinity in my mom's truck. Its ....meh.
Now the TB is power hungry. I had it on 240 RMS, took every bit of it and never got stinky.
Ported in about .75 cubes with a 3" port that was 8 or so inches long, the flipping box would dance across the floor several feet when I played Bass Mekanik.
Thats a ten pound woofer, a fifteen pound plate amplifier, not including the weight of the box...
Best 38 bucks ever.

I notice the Le on the Dayton's are about half that of the other drivers. Probably because of the copper added to the pole piece. Might be a little more esssque.
