Default Anyone try this?

I was given some advice on a 4th order.. 1 to 3 ratio. Instead of a 3 to 1?? Has THIS been done b4? Or has it only been ported side bigger?

Who gave you this advice? What's his theory behind it? And what are the goals for this?

Outside of car audio, the common ration is 1:1 or even smaller on the ported side. In those cases the bandpass enclosure will show a similar response to a sealed box on the low end but with some added cone control through the bandpass and reduction of harmonics due to the acoustic filter of the port.

I've heard of 1:1 and it's common, but he said 1:3..........

You should be able to model the response and see what the differences are. It won't necessarily give you and absolute in-car response but should show you what the difference would be between a more traditional auto 4th and his design.

I apologize, but I'm not sure the question you're trying to ask.

From what it seams he is asking the difference between a 3:1 ratio and a 1:3 ratio. So 1 ratio being 3 sealed to 1 ported and the other ratio being 1 sealed to 3 ported.

Depends on the sub and the desired bandwidth.
