Default box for 2 hds212's opinion ??

Picking up a couple hds212's and I came up with a box that will seal up and fire forward in my mustang. It's 34" wide x 27" deep x 13.5" tall. Will be 4.5 cuft net @ 38hz with 73 sq.in port area. So 16" per cube. What you guys think ? Will be powered off a saz1200d @ .5

Should work. Usually the sq stuff likes large box, good port area and tuned mid 30s.

What do you listen to? I think this box might be a little peaky.

I did a box for a pair of hds212 in my Co workers vw gti. 3.8 cubic feet 35hz 54 inches of port. It sounds great. Imo the 200 series don't need nearly the volume or port as the hdc3 and hdc4 lines.

Edit: amp was saz 1k

I would tune a little lower than 38 if you listen to decaf. The box I mentioned plays everything well. It isn't peaky at all. If you listen to that many genres of music I would suggest giving something similar a try.

I'd also tune lower if you like decaf. 33-35hz

Alright, so I talked to a guy on ca about this too, acording to winsid the subs need a minimum of 26sqin port per, and have flattest response at 32hz in a 4-5 cuft box. So think I'm going to shoot for 4.5 @ 32 with 52-60 sqin port area. That sound a little better to you guys ?

I've found that 32hz works really well with damn near all SoundQubed subs. Personally, I'd bump it up to [email protected] and go with around 75 sqin. of port. I've played around with different box size, port area, and tuning for a pair of Hds212's on an IA10.1 in my buddy's 96 Mustang. I tuned everywhere from 30-37hz, and I wasn't impressed with anything higher than 35hz.

Are they going in your Mustang? We [email protected] 65sqin port and settled on [email protected] & 70insq port, but anywhere in there is a good choice. I'd stay between 15-16sqin per cube. We relocated his Mach amps to the spare tire area and was able to make the box around 3" taller. Port rear sub rear was about the only thing we felt like trying.

Yea this is going in my 96, I ripped all the mach crap out of it. I don't want to cut the car up to much right now lol i'm going to cut about 2 inches of sheet metal out so I can gain a little height and still keep rear seat mounting brackets. My max dimensions I can do that way is 14h x 35 wide x 30 deep. I've been playing with the torres calculator and came up with a 5.05 cu.ft @ 32hz with 75 sq in of port, almost 15 per cuft. Really want a center port but i'm not having to much luck on getting it calculated out right.

I want to go for a big box big port, so I don't have to change out when I upgrade subs down the road. hdc3's, x12's or similar.....not to worried about spl numbers, just want loud, low, and clean
