Default Subs firing up vs back in trunk car...?

How much difference would it make, firing the subs to the rear of the car vs firing up towards the trunk lid? I hear that firing to the rear is usually the best bet in a trunk car that has seats that do not fold down, which mine do not.

Im trying to design a box to fit two 15's in my 93 continental. Its got a fairly large trunk, it has the space for two 15's, minus the port. I cant find a good place to put the port, which is why im considering putting the subs firing upwards vs to the rear. Id really rather go to the rear but i cant see it working that way.

I dont know if its a huge (noticable by ear) difference, i would keep the port facing the trunk though but dont quote me.

If it were up to me, id face both to the rear. But it simply will not work that way. There just isnt enough room to face both to the rear on that part of the box. Its not wide enough.

yours have a flat bottom or does your trunk have that big rectangular dip?
we did a few of these before with some 9500 15s subs up port back worked pretty well.. we just had to dampen the trunk lid cuz it sounded like it was tryin to come off...

Do a couple 15's with the port to either driver or passenger's side. I have my 18 sub up port drivers side...I think I'm gonna re-design the box but this seem,s to work well. I was gonna switch to 2 12's for the exact same reason as you but now I think I will stick with what I got and just make some adjustments.

Nice set up bwood. My buddy has a 99 (i think) town car so i know how the trunk looks. Mine is quite different tho. No space up there like that, mine is just a flat trunk.

I wanted to do the two subs firing back, and port the side. But it wont work. The port would have to be directly behind one of the subs motors to place on the side. It cant go back any farther cuz it would be covered by the trunk wall.

My trunk looks like its about to pop off ha.. But the again so do my doors. I wish i could afford to dampen atleast the trunk lid. I already have two 15's, one is working and being used now, and the other needs reconed is the only reason its not already in the car.
