Default Another 6th order question...

Mocking up a 6th order on winisd pro and have questions regarding port size using aero's. Would i typically want the low tuned side to be of less port area then the high tuned side or would a 6" aero used for both sides do good just one being longer than the other of course. Also this would be for 2 15's in a isobaric loaded configuration. (two stereo integrity ht-15's). Also, is the isobaric loading having both subs hit against each other or do they push and pull together? (ie: 1 wired 180 degrees of the other?)

You want less port area for the rear normally
Also don't ISO load them
you would essentially have 1 15" when you put 2 in
Most subs today don't need to be ISO loaded to have a small enough enclosure to fit
And if you are going for a 6th order you already are using WAY more space than a regular ported

thanks bro, yeah after some research I decided against the isobaric loading, I forgot its like doubleibg the power handling of 1 sub and esentially only the output of one. I'm going 3 ported....box for 6th is way more room than I would want to give up.

Base port size off your airspeed values. Is this going in a vehicle or a home?

This was going to be in a vehicle, an '05 tahoe to be exact. I might not end up doing this afterall, and if i did it wouldnt be isobaric loaded. where would i find air speed values? I wish there was really good program for modeling 6th orders that would be acurate....

Vent air velocity can be calculated in winISD as long as you've got all the relevant TSPs including sd (radiating surface/"cone" area) entered. BassBox6 can model both parallel and series 6th orders, but don't expect the predicted frequency response to be spot on once you get it in the car (just like any other enclosure design, lol). I used BassBox to calculate the needed air volume for the sealed section of my 4th at 40hz resonance and it was spot on.

I'm interested to hear your results when you get those subs installed. I've got four HT15's in a 2.5:1 4th.

Sweet! a fellow stereo inegrity guy! every one that ask about my subs never even heard of them lol. I'll check out bassbox6 and give it a whirl, I have my ht's right now in a vented box 3.5 cubes each tuned around 33.5hz and they freaking rock! (well at least i think so lol) and I had asked Nick at SI to build me a third because they dont sell them anymore and he said he would. when time came for payment he gave me a hell of deal on his HST-15 prototype so i jumped on that. He said they would sound good together (in seperate chambers of course) so i started building a box for three 15's seperate chambered 3.5 cubes each with 6" aero's for ports. Then i was playing around on winisd and noticed how well thhe ht-15's did in a 6th so i started thinking about maybe going that rout. how do you like yours in the 4th? what frequency range do they play?

I'm flat from about 25hz to 50hz with a 3dB peak centered around 38hz. Above 50 it rolls off. I need to do some more work on the port though.

If you are considering a 6th, I would think mixing the HT & HST would not be a viable option. 3 chambered ported is far removed from 6th.
The ghetto blaster Suburban build had 6 HT 18's in a 4th, if you'd like to see other SI builds.
I'm not an expert, but I'd def ask those that are before you invest tons of time.

Meh if you got money then iso does increase power handling, motor force and decrease required volume.

And yeah I definitely wouldn't mix those drivers even in separate chambers. Kind of weird for Nick to suggest that...
