Default Driver to Port relationship

I remember there being a discussion about this at one point somewhere but I can't find it.

What effect does the placement of the drive in the box in relation to the port wall have on the output/efficiency if there is any difference?

The box I'm about to build will be long and skinny so I need to know if I need to put the sub as close to the port as I can get it, somewhere in the middle, or all the way on the opposite end.

I would like to know this as well, but IIRC you want it farthest away from the port to "create" pressure.

Correct me if i'm wrong (most likely i'm wrong)

I would just always try to keep the sub mounted as far away from the interior port opening as possible...as far as exterior positioning of the sub compared to the port it would probably have effects more according to where the enclosure itself is positioned compared to the meter/your ears rather than where the sub/port are in relation to eachother

You would want to keep the sub(s) as far away from the interior port opening because you dont want the sub to not 'use' all of the airspace intended for it and just basically fire directly out of the port (unloading)

Hmm.

I will be putting the Sundown X-12 in my moms Yukon in a standard slot port box ~2.25 cubes and I'm thinking about tuning to 32hz.

But I was talkin to Bumpin Buick and he told me to run it along the driver side wall with the sub and port both up and mentioned some distances from stuff, but didn't say where to put the sub in the box in relation to the port. lol

And once I figure this out I will need a box design so you guys can help me out with that too.

That is what I've heard, but my room isn't perfectly square and I haven't tried it.

But in a house when firing the sub into a corner I always has the loudest/lowest output from the sub.

Yea, he mentioned the positioning of everything compared to the vehicle rather than between the port/sub because the positioning in relation to the environment/your ears/the meter would, imo, matter more than the positioning between the sub/port (as long as the sub is pretty much as far away from the interior port opening as possible, thats one thing I would focus on)

Hmm. I shall put shoes on and go bring the Yucky into the garage and measure my box's max dimms so I can get conformation on where it should be placed and a box design at the same time.
