Default Port Velocity

Here is the scenario

4 Alpine type r dual 2 on and Opti 6000d

Alpine recommends an f3 of 29hz and an FB of 35hz with port area of 50 in^2 and port volume of .93 ft^3

in order to meet their criteria, this is what I had to do.

Alpine recommends 50 sq^2 but i am at 100 sq^2 inches but not the typical 13-16 sq^2 per cubic foot. If I go bigger port is to long

Port velocity is 27.6 m/s

So in a nut shell if you are putting max power to the subs un-clipped port velocity should be good as long as it is below 34 m/s correct?

I ask because if I add more volume to the box while over powering then I hurt the suspension of the woofer so I need a happy medium so to say.

ok thank you.

Port dimensions at 10"x10"x14"

Alpine also recommends ported box volume of 1 to 1.5 Ft^3 per sub and I am at 2.5ft^3 per sub after displacement. Kind of why I really dont want to go bigger.

the reason they recommend such a small enclosure is b/c their subs can only handle their rated RMS in that size enclosure.

You're perfect with that enclosure. Now go build it.

why not do a 12 inch sonotube instead if you want better port efficiency.
