Default finally figured out space, subs now confused on port area

So i am set on getting the dss ethos 12's They say on website they require 1.5 cubes net tuned to 32hz with 40 sq inches of port. Id like to go a little bigger, maybe 1.7 cubes each.

Here are my dimensions but i cant get 80 square inches of port for 2 of them with my space so with that in mind what do you recommend for port area?

15H by 37.5W by 21D I believe its 5.55 cubes gross and after displacement and everything i can be at 3.5 cubes, but my port area will be lower than 80. Unless i do aero port which then i am not too sure on what do get port to and if i can even tune to 32.

Check on Steve Meade form Joe X had posted a Ethos box plan that I had built the same box and worked out great. Just thought it may help.

With the dimensions you have and factoring a double baffle front you have around 5.3 cube net before sub and port. After sub and port your setting around 4-4.2 net. Use a single 6" aero @ 13" long gives you roughly 33hz tuning. A single 6" is good for a pair of 12s.

I dont believe a 6" aero is enough for these subs. I got 3.0 cubes and 67 square inches of port after displacement and subs. Thats alot port.

I understand aero ports are more efficient but can't have like 50 sq in of port in aero and tune that low bc my depth is only 21.

40 in^2 for a single 12" is nice, but not required at all. You might see a gain with a crazy amount of power, but even then I'd only expect a couple tenths. It would be nice if someone could post a link explaining why DSS lists that much area.

So what would you recommend? Do you have any idea why sundown recommends 40in^2 for their 12 inch X? I mean the box is slightly bigger but its still a 12.

I can only fit around 60 sq inches of port in 3.2 cubes after displacement so i asked Q (the owner of dss) if that was ok he said it wont make a huge difference for output but he said tune to 32 because the way the sub was designed it will hit highs and lows awesome if used in that tuning

Try what i said in the other thread. Not the 10" 5 footer. You wont be disappointed. 27" of port per is practically like wiring it up in the box it was shipped in.

When i talked to q he said try to get close to specs on the site. I see you states 45-48 sq inches of port for 3.0 cubes. I can do 60 with the space i have. Will that be better since its closer to recommended?
