I am working on a design for a 4th order bandpass for 2 Alpine Type R's. I have looked at a couple but people have nitpicked the hell out of them. Bad response, not enough port area, etc etc etc. so I caved and spent some quality time with WinISD Pro, a calculator, and some graph paper and came up with the following:
3 cube sealed chamber, 4 cube ported tuned to 45Hz with 103,5 sq. in. of port area (I was told I needed around 100?), external dimensions are 36wx16hx35d, which is basically my whole trunk building the box inside, which should be a freaking blast...=/
sealed internal is 34.5x14.5x10.5
ported internal is 34.5x14.5x16.5, a little big but I had to account for 10 inches of the port.
Port is 34.5x3x26, 10 inches in the box and 16 inches going straight up into my rear deck which will be seeing some quality time with a cutoff wheel soon.
Any opinions on this? Anyone got any better designs? I've been comparing boxes to a [email protected]
ported box with 58 square inches of port area for response and am looking to surpass it below 50Hz.
To answer other questions I am sure will come, car is a 1996 Grand Prix sedan, trunk is about 36x16.5x35-6, power will be an MTX 81000d at 2 ohms final load.
Thanks in advance
