Default Designing a 4th order....

There's a lot of info here on this topic and I feel like I have a decent grasp of the concept. I've built and designed tons of boxes but never a 4th.

I'm doing 6 12's in an avalanche, wanting to shoot for 2:1 ratio ( maybe 2 cu ft ported and 1 sealed) not sure where to tune the ported section at or how much port area to use

I read that making the sealed section bigger will increase my bottom end. Is that the case?

Lastly I tried to avoid all of this and contact some some designers but that didn't work out

Discuss. Any info appreciated

Big thanks for the help. I think my q may be a little low for these subs in a 4th. I guess I'd better go regular ported. Question now is, how the hell will I get six subs in there without firing them at one another

now thats guuna be tough, this is only for four 10's so six 12's with ports wont fit. maybe four 12" with some tweeking. I'd still do the 4th. It will still work just not as optimal, but should be way better than whaterver ported you can do.
My buddy has two 15 l7s in a custm box in his 07 avalanch and while it bangs, my tahoe bangs harder and louder than his and I only have stereo integrity ht-15's. He wants to do a fourth or sixth blow thru now. I just dont like the sound of subs and ports forward...idk..

Man id like to do it, but building a box that size only for it to fall on its face would be an expensive ass lesson. Not to mention that with the way the batts are in the truck, it's a pain to get all of that stuff out anyway. Nothing is ever a sure thing, but I guess I should at least give myself a good chance at success.

Currently the truck has 2 18's in it and it kills lows. I actually love the way it sounds. Just changing it up is all.

Has anyone ever done 6 12's or 4 15's in this vehicle?

I'll look that up tonight. Maybe that'll help me get some ideas. What about a designer?

I'm sure there are many on here that are great, one that comes to mind is GPC (ground pounder customs) for $25 he'll design you a fourth for the subs and vehicle you have and give you detailed instructions how to build it. He does some awesome box modeling so check him out on the web or on Facebook.

Tot abase on here has an avalanche with a 4th order

I've also seen multiple 4th orders using level 5 15's and they are absolutely insane (160db+ music builds). Hit up Keith Miller on Facebook. He is a mastermind when it comes to anything DC and a 4th order
