Default 43cu

I have a shell with 43cu internal volume. I currently have 4 18's one has just been rebuilt and I have everything to rebuild the other 3 but after testing the first rebuilt sub they are not going to be good for a 4th. So should I shrink the volume and do a ported flat wall try and squeeze a 1to1 6th in or rebuild the subs as 15's and do a 6th with a larger ratio. With the 18's it will probably be a v shape 2 18's each side 10cu tuned 28-32 area I'll start low and shorten port. The high side about 20cu tuned 50-60hz start high with tons of port and shrink until happy. With 15's it would be shared plain firing forward 14cu similar tuning with a high side about 27cu. This will be powered by 2 taramps 8k possibly 4 in the far off future. Subs do have strong motors bl a little over 24 with coils in series an re of 2 fs is 43hz with only 2zv2 spider's qts is a .39 so not super peaky. I'm hoping to get a wide frequency range with a ton of output 25-45 within 3db peak In the low 50hz area somewhere in the high150 range. Just need some advice which route to take

All I know is ported but just by design 6th should have more output and you have the space and 18s already.

4 15's in a 6th
I don't think you have enough room for 4 18's
And why not utilize your shell instead of doing a flat wall

Another question is why not rebuild the one you just rebuilt into a 4th friendly woofer and rebuilt the other three the same... hell of a lot cheaper than swapping to 15" top assemblies and way less complex than piss ing with a 6th...

I read that a guy named irpirate had 4 18s in a small 6th. Then he switched to 15s in the same enclosure. Not only did he play lower and louder, the system stayed more under control.

I can see that... 18's were getting choked by the enclosure size and the 15's were able to bust a move in the same enclosure. Would be just one of many situations where less cone ends up netting better results

That's exactly what I'm contemplating. 5cu per woofer might be plenty but if it's not I just wasted time and money.

The parts I have are all loose and I have 15" baskets all I would need is cones. I would just get the zv2 cones that are $8 each plus $1 for matching dust caps, so not much to switch
