Default port area, freind or foe?

So, as ive gone from slot to aero ports iv'e noticed that the less port area the more the sub comes close to bottoming out. You get more movement with small port area of an aero but at lower power. Both really sound the same but the smaller port area of an aero sems to put my sub in jepordy of bottoming out and blowing. My subs are very soft low fs stereo integrity home theater subs. I never had a problem with them coming close to bottoming out in my old slot box that was 57sq in of port area...now same size box but with a 6" aero, im bottoming out like a mother****er! Cant really tell a big difference in sound between the two. Other then the coil smacking the back plate. Is this because they are soft and the less port area has exploited that or is it better to run large port area when over powering subs?

Tuning is 32hz on the aero, and 34hz on the slot as far as my calculations. Just crazy to hear my subs hit the back plate when i could throw tons of power (1600 watts each) to them with a slot and all i had to worry about was coil stink.

Are the ports both the same distance from the loading wall?

Excactly the same...built the.box to be the same distance from the rear of my tahoe as i wanted to keep the same cargo area...thats why i went with aero's so i could add a third sub within the same space as the 2 i have now. But have yet to add the 3rd sub.

The box is a three subs up, port back box with seperate chambers with 6" aeros in each chamber....i seperated the chambers because i was going to run my hst-15 with my two ht-15's. The hst 15 getting one amp and the ht-15's getting the other....but blew one ht-15 before i could finish...and now i blew the hst 15...

Did I miss where you said what size the boxes are and what size the slot port is?
