Default resin inside box

I've seen some people put layers of resin inside the box but never understood why?

pros:
smooths the box out
seals all the edges
seals the wood it's self
cons:
doesn't add strength
more weight
messy as hell
takes to long to dry imo

would you recommend doing it? I thought it added strength to the box.

I started trippin out on the fumes coming off of my box when I resined the inside of my box. I smelled it for a good 2weeks after I applied it.
