Default First 4th order... L7 10 in a reg cab

So ya. I got a lil ten inch L7 im tryna actually make sound good, but i've never built a 4th order before. I've researched a few articles and i'm understanding the basic jists of them. but its always taken me two times to get a box right. So... im thinking like. 2.5:1 or something? sealed chamber at 1cube, ported at 2.5 ish with the sub inverted into the ported chamber. However, i have no idea if that seems like a great idea. It probly would sound good. But im trying to figure out what relationship the sealed and ported chamber share. Im sure there are multiple ways their airspace will make the outcome vary... i was thinking the sealed must be big enough to allow the sub to move freely enough, yet controlled enough to not damage and still create pressure in the ported section. So i guess whos the 4th order guru here. Should i be posting thiele small parameters? oh and btw i go back like 8 years with this forum and im sure most of the old admins are dead and gone or whatever, but it be cool if i could learn a little something again. Worst comes to worst i build it not knowing wtf im doing it that way for, but what is the fun if you dont understand the way youre manipulating the sound?

So im talking to one of the members of this forum, and i know nobody gives a poop but hes saying (and i agree with him) that because the box being stretched out and behind a seat of a regular cab, that the shape itself would make for an inefficient 4th order design? i actually agree but would it really make it not worth building a 4th order over a basic ported box? Im trying to impress myself since its gonna be my first 4th order if i built it.

If you wanna do it go for it. First thing is don't get cought up in ratios..You need to first find the sealed resonance frequency of your sub. The paid version of the ultimate car audio app will help. Its only .99 cents. Find out what size sealed will yield an fc of around 40hz. Then build your sealed side to that. Then go from double that to tripple that on the ported side..more for higher spl, or lower for extended bandwidth. Port should be at 40hz or 41...sometimes a little more helps than the sealed side but relatively speaking you want the two to match. Port area would be about 1/3 the area of your cone area so in your case about 28 inches of port area or a 6" areo port. Iam no guru but this is what i have learned so far.
