Default X10's and SQ?

so i have 2 x10's off a taramps 3k in a box built to spec and they are peaky as hell. i'm wondering if anyone has any experience as to what x10's sound best in. standard ported, 4th order, whatever. also, if anyone knows a designer/builder that can help me out, i'd appreciate it. i'm looking for more sq out of them and a wider frequency range.

What does "built to spec" mean?

The enclosure is half of it, the vehicle acoustics is the other half. The same enclosure will have a very different transfer function and frequency response in a car trunk vs. behind a seat in a pickup for example. What kind of vehicle is it in and how is the enclosure positioned within it?

it's in a box built to what the manufacturer recommends. it's currently positioned behind the rear seat of a 2011 lincoln mkx, subs and ports facing back towards the hatch. it uses aero ports btw.

My apologies, I wanted your enclosure net volume and port dimensions.

1. that amp isnt enough power to cleanly push them to full potential
2. what are the specs of the enclosure in volume and port area?
3. im going to guess its one of the Concept Enclosures that you get on Ebay? and if it is, you dont have nearly enough port area

I have 2 x10 v1s on a SAZ 3k. ive been competing with hem and they are very punchy with my setup. My box is 4.2 cubes with an 8'' aero port tuned at 42hz, in my hatch back. Im doing 145s on music average, and can burp 148s.

With impedance rise he probably up in the 2k rms, he doesn't need more power. And we all know double the power for theoretical 3db increase. Pieces of info that is important are the box spec, vehicle and its orientation In the vehicle. Now I'm not a physicist or have any acoustic engineering degree but I remeber talking to you about a sub box design and theoretical simulation of output vs real world result.

Now I just throw number in the air and take what I get. Case in point amplifier is good and he need someone who has experience with said vehicle or who can account cabin gain

I will help you out for free. Just need more info like your box specs of your box now and vehicle and which way you have it firing to give me a better idea how you have this setup

dont remember many conversations ive had on this site in the past 2yrs so maybe...in any event, that amp doesnt produce enough power to fully push those drivers...will it get them to move, absolutely...will they be begging for more, absolutely

but yes, we need to know his box specs before jumping to anything...hell, his box could be 5cu net for all we know

Yea we had a huge bromance of pa car audio classified. Yrs ago but I sure you will remember, but in my experience had 2 12 mojo on a 5k then a 3k then sold to my cousin and he had a cheap plye 100 amp and well it wasn't move a whole lot but for the power it was loud and sounded just the same.

Now this guy just wants a wider bandwidth without any huge peaks. So as long the design of his box achieve his goals then power is optional in his part, output changes but once the enclosure is built your stuck with the frequency response. Can be EQ'ed but not the same imo
