Default Box design help for 18" Fi Q

I guess I should also say I want it to get loud and low. That's my goal with this setup. I've had this sub for about a year and I want to build a new box for it. The first time, I built the port a little small (port area wise), so this time I'm going to make it bigger as well as increase the box volume.

My plan is to make a box that is 32" wide, 22" tall, and 28" deep with a port that will be 20.5" tall, 6" wide and 35.6" deep. According to bassbox pro, that will give me a 29hz tuning.

Does this sound right? Those are the maximum dimensions I can fit in the back of my Jeep while still keeping the port about 5-6" away from the hatch.

Any suggestions? BTW, it'll be sub up, port back and it's powered off of a sundown SAZ-1000d.

Also, do you think I'll need any bracing? I was planning on using a double baffle, but that's it as far as bracing.

Anyone? It's come to my attention that the tuning is wrong. Can anyone offer a suggestion for a 29hz tuning that would offer enough port area. So basically port width and length for a 29hz tuning.

alright man, i came up with a 5.5 in wide port that is 45.75 long. that got me at 29 hz. box i 6.588 cubes factoring port. thats not incluing desplacement for sub or bracing if you do that. all thread takes up very little space and is strong. i usually just use 1x1's. they are cheap and do the job

Didn't mean to double post. Firefox is all messed up with this site and the security warnings. Didn't realize it went through the first time.

Thank's for replying. I actually figured out what my problem was with Bassbox pro 6. I had the vent type as two flush ends rather then one. Now it will account for port displacement in the calculation. I decided I'm going to use a port that is 20.5" high, 5" wide and 40" long. That should give me close to a 30hz tuning w/ 6.73cu.ft. net.

As for bracing, how would you suggest I space the bracing? Like a brace in the middle of each side panel or is it really just the top that needs braced?

i would keep it tuned lower.. i have a fi q also didnt really like it at 32 hertz dropped it down to 28 hertz and it was lovely

and i usually brace on each side of the sub away a couple inches going from top to bottom and 1 front to back

but they 6.7 cubes is a great box size i actually had mine in a little smaller of a box

and you do know that the end of the port has to be the same inches away from back wall as the opening
so if u got a 5" wide port u need to be 5" off back wall of box
