Default Sub/port up in a trunk: does it work for daily?

I'm thinking of doing a semi false floor in my trunk, but the only way I can figure to do it, is to have the port facing up, along with the sub. I just painted the basket, so I want to invert the sub to show it off.
Also, can you paint the slugs on a motor with reg. paint, and not have any adverse effects?

I've never done port up, and I think most cars can act different with port placement. It may be ok, it may not. I've always done port on driver side...

And I wouldn't paint the slugs either.

I've always done port and subs facing rear, always sounds best to me in all applications I have done; it seems to give the bass time to develop. So, no idea, I would think it might cause more rattle from trunk lid, but no idea.

Depends on the car I suppose, in my Crown Vic, ive done subs and port back, sub and port up, (temp) and currently subs up port back. All worked well.

Friend of mine had a 02 Vic with (4) 12s in 8 cubic feet, subs and port up and it worked very well,

Yeah, I've seen more than one Vic with a sub/port up config, and it worked. I've had it every other way in my car, but sub/port forward ( my seats don't fold), and all have worked well.

My car like sub up/port back, but with both up, I'm not sure if it woulkd cancel or not. I've seen it done in SUVs and a few Crown Vics, but thats it.

I'd personally go subs/port back, sub up port back, or sub/port forward. Just my opinion though.
