You will find this book very helpful. Having the knowledge and understanding how a loudspeaker is going to preform in a given enviroment is very important. You first need a goal , what do I want to achieve, emphasis on low bass , audible loudness , SQ... this book will help you pick the right subwoofer to meet your goal before you ever have to spend a dime. After you picked the woofer and made a prediction how its going to preform you then can move on to making an observation did it preform as predicted...If all your calculations where correct then yes it did exactly as predicted. If it didnt preform as predicted you will have the knowledge you need to do the actual testing to determine what went wrong and what needs to be changed... something will need to be changed , there are to many variables in cars to account for when designing a enclosure. It will require hours maybe days of in car testing to meet your design goal. like I said before this book is the Bible when it comes to designing and building loudspeakers.
