I've always been in to car audio, Well since I was 11. And now I want to make a box to go along with a 12" pioneer and a 800 watt pioneer amp. (I'll add the links at the bottom.) Any way, my question is, Do I have to go by the factory recommended box specs? Because 1.5 cubic feet seems a little small and I'm trying to get a decent amount of boom from this little guy. Pretty much what I want to do is run the sub at 2ohms and run a ported box at about 35 hertz. So what are your thoughts?
1.5 net should be fine for that setup. Maybe 2 at most.

Whoever appeals to the law against his fellow man is either a fool or a coward. Whoever cannot take care of himself without that law is both. For a wounded man shall say to his assailant, "If I Live, I will kill you. If I die, you are forgiven." Such is the Rule of Honor.
Hmm, I've been messing with some box calculators and it looks like I'm gonna have to run a port that is 1" wide to get 35 hertz. Now that just seems like there may be some port noise, Do you think it would be better just to run sealed box?
