Default box ideas for daily hatch

orion 1200
soundsplinter rl-p 15 d2
stupid batt. upgrading soon to xs d1200.

so ive been out of the game for a while and just looking for ideas really. sub up port back is the norm. ive done this before and got a 142 out of it at 4 cubes at 30hz. saving space for longboards in my hatch while having a ported box at the same time!
sub/port back ftw?!?!

sub up port back

heres what i use to run before making room for my boards

and an unfinished pic of the sealed box im running now.

use torres box calculator. RE doesnt account for sub and port displacements so it can really be innacurate

ive taken into account that it doesnt see sub/brace displacements, but i think it atleast does take into account port displacement under "square port volume displacement" no? or is that only the internal port square inches and doesnt take into account that it takes some 3/4 wood to make that port lol

Bro if you have a hatch then you can utilize it as a horn. Make the port on the bottom and long against the back wall and then try to make the box a little angled and vilola a horn that is made between the outside of the box and the hatch wall:

Except make the box away from the vertical short wall and angled with the sub facing that wall aswell so you get a longer throat.

My horn had a horn affect off the rear hatch, if I opened the hatch it would unload at nearly 40hz but closed was dropping down to 30 with ease

Re calculator SUCKS. Generally tuning ends up being high by 3-5hz

so torres box calculator is the norm now? ive used winisd in the past just to make sure things add up. and as long as ive accounted for re's lack of specifics, ive been fine and happy. but i really think i would benefit from both sub/port up config. seeing as my hatch itself does move quit a bit from just the port hitting it. more energy could be expelled toward the front instead of moving the hatch door a 1/4 inch back and forth.

IMO it's much easier and more accurate to just do it yourself...plug and chug FTW. And you learn something along the way...
