Default Which volume to choose and Why??

I have an 2003 Tahoe Im about to build an enclosure for 4 15s, the specs say anywhere from 2.5 to 4 cft per sub, so im just curious to what would make you choose 2.5 over 4 or vice versa if space is not an issue, and which would give better results and why

Mainly power handling. the larger the box the less power it takes to get it loud. But also the less power the subs can handle. The smaller the enclouser the more power it takes to get loud. But also the subs can handle more due to loading and impedance rise factors.

For 4 15's I would go with 14-16 ft3 with around 150-200sqin of port.

I have more than enough amp to push them in a small or large enclosure, why so much port area ( other than to minimize port noises)

I have tested the demensions I listed and they work fine. Can you go big and shrink it done...yes. But unless your competing your just wasteing time. That size box will give you good power handling with good output.

But if you want to build it as big as you can and test test test to see what is the best by all means go right ahead.

Essentially just that. You can play around with the size a bit if you want. Maybe start at 6 or 8" and just add pieces to shrink it down a bit.

150-200'' of port for a 16cube box sounds about right. Its actually a little on the small side for my enclosures but that always depends on vehicle, power, subs, music, and space available.

Figure 6" wide by 30" tall....I usually do about 12-15sqin of port per cubic foot.

^lol at yukon again. The car doesnt like the port, the sub does brah.

It depends what subs they are. They could be optimal in 2 cubes each for all we know, or they could be IB and want all 14 cubes a piece.
Everyone saying go the biggest you can are just talking out of their ass.

If you have more than enough power. NORMALLY go smaller, like 3 a piece. It will help power handling as well as get rid of the nasty peak around tuning from an oversized box.
