You need to get your max dimensions for the box to fit in your trunk and we can go from there. are you going for spl or more for daily on music like killing some lows or ?

i have a box that is 15 x 36 x 34 right now that just slides in and out of the trunk which is 8.1 cubes but im sure i can go with 16 x 36 x 34 to fit the sub better. and i use it daily but i want it as loud as possible.

Depends on what you are looking to achieve out of it. Do you want lows, high tones, etc? For lows you need to go fairly big in a ported enclosure. I would have to agree with the comment above, about 5 cuft for a avg all around sound. Make it a little bigger to get more lows.
