Default Xtant 1244 box size help needed

My older Xtant 1244 dual 4 ohm is in a 3.0 cubic foot box with a 1.5 inch slot port. Xtant technical data recommends that it have a 4 inch port by 12.5 inches long....seems kinda big...Here is a link to there site http://www.xtant.com/archives/html/t...pdfs/X1244.pdf....

Has anyone made a box for one of these if so i would like help.. What size port should I have?

That sounds more like an aeroport but at 3 cubes it would be at 28hz

I ran my pair in 2.25ft^3 each with a 30hz tuning, I believe. I did the box about 8 years ago though, so my memory might be a little off.

It would depend on the parameters of the driver: fs,qts, and vas. Those will give you the formulas for figuring proper port area. And fyi, don't let your eyes control your ears job, meaning just because a port looks too big or small, doesn't mean it is. The final determination of any port size for any enclosure design relies on more than just tuning factors and box volume and cannot be determined by simple calculations in a sense. Post your drivers fs,qts, and vas,and ill figure for your minimum port size needed for proper driver operation. But keep in mind that this will be only a basis figure for a much more complicated configuration of determining other parameters for the full design. Use only as a starting point, but never go below my recommended port area as port noise will likely occur. If you want me to figure this for you, let me know.
