Default i have a trunk box dilemma.

ok so im lookin to get better numbers out of my sa 12s sealed off from the trunk. the first thing i have been told to try is building a bigger box. but if i build a bigger box i need more port area, but unless i make my box taller i cant fit any bigger of a port in there, and even if i did stuff an extra 2 inches of height in there id only gain 8 sq inches. so would having an optimally sized box facing back be louder than too small of a box sealed off from the trunk? i dont think there is any way i can make the opening of the trunk bigger otherwise i would.

Well first off how big is your current box? Going bigger isn't always the answer. Neither is sealing it off from the trunk, A lot of people don't have good experiences from doing so.

its about 1.7 net per sub. other people whove used sa's have told me 2.25-3 works best. i actually did notice an improvement though from when i was testing the box firing back and then sealed it off.

1.7 per is a little small, I would do 2-2.5, 3 is too big, How much power are you sending to each?

Instead of guessing on size why dont you look at factory recommended or the TS specs....

i had 2 sa 12s on 3krms in a 4 cube box.

but since we dont know what power/car/and max dimensions, we cant really help all i know is that the sa subs do better on more power in a smaller box. also i have mine in my trunk subs rear firing and ports to drivers side quarter panel.
