Default sixths orders

im thinking about doing a sixth order for my next build, im not sure what im doing yet as far drivers and power. i would just like some input and pointers.
i currently have a 1:1 fourth order, would a 1:1 sixth order work? i know i sound like a noob but i just want to learn everything about sixth orders, i have had issues in the past finding info so any input would be appreciated

if you want to learn about 6th orders, get winISD beta and start playing with it.

You will find out that ratios are best left as guidelines and some subs simply don't like certain enclosures.

As far as volume ratios, 2 parts rear to 1 part front works well for most subs. {front tuning set at about double the tuning of the rear tuning frequency}

I really don't want to learn about it on a program that cant accurately display what will actually happen in its real world application, i know its pretty close but sixth orders are very picky and id rather not screw up by using a computer when i can do it by hand

soo many aspects as to the subs Q parameters, wave lengths, quarter waves, ebp etc etc.. There's more than just learning how to design and plot them. You need to know how to read a sub and how it will perform given the ration and wave length

there is no one set way that works for every application. So your best bet is by using a computer that can plot most wave lengths

I think you are misunderstanding what sonic is saying. Yes, winISD will not give you accurate in-car results, but it will show you how strange 6th orders can behave depending on the driver(s) being used. The point being: getting "real world" advice or generalizations on how to build a 6th order when you have explicitly stated you don't know what kind of equipment you are using is moot.

With that, here's the general rules of a 6th order, lol:

1) 2:1 ratio of airspace
2) rear chamber tuned an octave below the front chamber (e.g. 25hz rear, 50hz front).

I'm not even sure if this is good or not, just what I've read. I've never built one.

dependent on the subs ebp and Q. Also music habits, say you listen to only a certain range. Normally when you hit you F3/3db down point its almost a full octave causing you to tune the different chambers for a 2nd octave.

To start: Very few people here can design a real 6th order.

To continue, there are multiple types of 6th orders. Most likely, you are talking about series-tuned, not the kind the others here are talking about.
The bottom line is, you wont be 'guessing' a successful 6th order, and you wont be designing one yet - or getting one from anyone here really.

If you have a goal in mind, post your vehicle, goal, space, budget, etc and I can help out. When this is done, I am able to design you the series-tuned 6th but it wont be free.

the truth is Surreal is full of shit most of the time. and he's not much help but he'll SELL you a design.

If you want a real design, find someone who does business by the light of day. [as opposed to via PMs and insinuation]

Decaf is a service provider here.
SPY is a Vendor here.
There are others as well but I can't think of them.
