Default Port entrance and sub placement?

Ok ive searched all over for this but if I remember right I read somewhere that you wanted to keep the cones of your sub(s) as far away from the opening of your port inside of the enclosure because of loading issues or something about them cancelling eachother out? Can somebody chime in on this if there is any truth to this at all? Thank you..

There are situations where you want them closer or further. It will have an affect on the response curve.
Generally, I would keep them further away to be safe. Some programs can model sub location along the baffle.. but thats beyond most all users.

Most likely no. There wont be a drastic difference moving it until you get the sub practically IN the port.
If you have a large enclosure and lots of space possible between the port and sub then itll be more prominent as you have a larger possibility for difference.
Its like where you mount a sub along a t-line.. location always makes a difference, but if that difference is only a few inches - then negligible.
