Default Newb with not much of a clue

Hi there. I am new to this site & i had a kind of lame question to ask. I was gonna put a 13 w 7 in my 2004 scion xb. Was thinking about firing it downward . Does anyone have an idea how much clearance I need minimum for the speaker to be back from a wall , floor, ect? Also would I be better with a sealed or ported box? I put parameters in Win ISD Pro & it said that speaker would be best well suited in a sealed box. Thx. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome man. You live close-ish to me. I honestly don't care for down firing boxes, but if a down firing box is what you are after, then either would be good in my opinion. What are you looking for in your setup? Music you listen to?

Well i didnt particularly want down firing but I figured it would make my install less apt to drawing attention. Seeing as it would be more hidden. I'm looking for a middle ground betwen SPL & SQ.

I just noticed you posted in the PSI section. This thread is in the wrong section I believe.

the box i built for my old 13w7 was 2.9cu ft before sub displacement tuned to 28hz. those subs love to be tuned low.

There is no reason why u cant fire downward. Leave urself about 4" of clearance as they have a good amount of excursion. Definitively go ported.. port firing back or to the side, i wouldnt fire the port at the floor.
