Default Painting my chrome grill, Black?

i have a 97 tahoe with a stock front end grill that is chrome.
im trying to paint the grill gloss black.

They say you can't paint over chrome, but I've done it before and it hasn't given me any problems. Just make sure to prep the surface well, and i used a adhesion promoter which i'm sure helped alot.

sand it down using a decen't grit sand paper 6 or 800, or scotch brite. and cleaning the surface of all grease before painting

do you mean 60-80 grit sandpaper?

i was thinking of using Phat black,gloss black and gloss clear on the grill. good idea?

No, 600 or 800. something like 60 or 80 would be way to rough. Yeah those colors are fine, just know that the quality of the paint makes a big difference. walmart $1 cans won't look or last as well as a job done with rustoleum or krylon would. hell I made a rustoleum paint job on my grill look better then most of these maaco paint jobs.

yeah man, sand with a very fine grit, and take some acetone to it or denatured alcohol.
