Default Adding Cigarette Lighters or Other Power Sources??

I'm looking to add another cigarette lighter pod/port thing or alternative power source and I guess I'm requesting info on what I would need to do...

I have the centrally located one by the ashtray but would like one on the driver's side.

Is it as simple as just buying the port, wiring it up like I would anything in a car or do I need to add inverter/converter?
Basically, I just want it to charge another cellphone without having a jumble of wires coming from the center so I can have mine close to me and passengers have the option to plug in through the center one that I can keep open.
I'm not interested in buying one of those double adapter plugs because of the wire mess that happens.

Ideas?
Thanks in advance.

You can buy a cigarette lighter at Autozone and connect a positive and negative to it and thats it. I would personally put it on a seperate switch though. I added one in my Ranger a long time ago and it's still working perfectly.

Wire in a relay to the constant or to your ignition, feed the lighter, profit.

Awesome. That's what I was hoping. Of course I'LL add a fuse, a switch is a great idea though.
Thanks.

I thought about those as a quick fix type of thing but I would prefer to have my own port next to between my steering wheel and door.
I want to be able to keep my phone on my door and extending cables from the center area to my door would just be unattractive.
Thanks for the link.
