Default 1999 Jeep Cherokee vs 4WD Hatchback vs _______

Going to start looking for a new car that I'll hopefully be able to get around the start of next year after I save up some money and get a loan.

I'm probably not going to get approved for much as I just turned 18 and have NO credit so I would like to keep stuff in the 3-4,000 range.

I live in Asheville now but plan on going to ASU next year where they have pretty rough winters so 4WD is a must. I also want something that is reliable since I'll be taking it on several cross state snow/skateboarding trips and I travel to Charlotte at least once a month for concert(s).

Right now leaning toward the 1999 Jeep Cherokee since I really like how they look. Thing is that everyone I ask who has one either loves it or hates it, though most favor it.

Something that is easy to get loud and has room for a second alt without too much trouble would be great as I plan on running a 3.5-5k system in my next vehicle.

What would you recommend I start looking for?

Dang no one replied to this? I have nothing but jeeps in my driveway lol
Including a 90 cherokee that my system is in (same body style as a 99). I say go for it. Great mpg's, 4x4 like you said, and best of all get a I6 and it will run forever.
