Question Can "flex" section be used for 10 feet of exhaust??

My friend is doing an exhaust on his s10 and wants a budget cheap 2.5", instead of paying a place to do it and mandrel bends I was thinking of suggesting this flex exhaust.

His exhaust merges into a 2.5" collector in the middle of the car and we want to use this flex to go from the middle to the rear and weld a 5" flat tip on the end of it. The exhaust needs to make 2 bends, one over the axle but theres quite a bit of room over it.

Would this flex stuff be good for that? Would it actually have ALOT of flex to it, enough to bend over an exle and back down.

Can you weld to it easily? Would probably need 2-3 hangers welded to the sides of it.

We dont have access to a chop saw anytime soon or a bender to make out own solid exhaust for the truck, so Im hoping this stuff works well and would last.

it will flex that easily enough. you can weld to it- but its thin. the galvanized will probably rot out before summer (mostly around where you welded). most big box shops (ie auto zone advance auto and o'reilly auto) will have exhaust sections hanging up just for going over the rear axle- 25 bucks or less should get ya a 2.5" - you just need to find a 2.5" with the right shape- doesn't need to be for that vehicle.

and just use a hack saw to cut it. no need for a cutoff saw.

A friend of mine used that on his old Ford truck and it didn't last more than 3 months before it developed a hole in one of the seams.

What I have done in the past is used two slip-fit 45* elbows and one 90* to get up and over an axle on my old S10 I had.

Two of these

One of these

Click on those pics to take you to Summit Racing. Those are all mandrel bent tubes which is why they're pricey, which I doubt you'll need, but if you go to you local car parts store they probably have the regular ones, cheaper.
