Default Car experts needed

So, when my great aunt passed away last year, she left her car behind. she bought it new in 97. less than a year later, she had a stroke and was unable to drive it. since then, it's been drove very little. maybe down the block and back once a year. it was passed on to my grandmother who never drove, and then gave it to my wife yesterday. my question is to you, with it only having 20,000 miles on it in 12 years, what things should i do to really make it road worthy again. it was garage kept the whole time, so there shouldn't be to many things needing to be done. but, this is what i have done so far. new battery, checked tire pressure, checked oil. the oil looked very fresh, but i'll probably change it. tranny fluid was ok, air filter ok. wipers need replaced tomarrow. belts look great still, but i'll check them to make sure they don't start to crack. is there anything else i might need to check? the car is a 97 dodge stratus with the 2.5l v-6.

thanks.

if it hasnt been used much you may want to let it run for 30 minutes or so sitting. then check for any leaks under it. just to make sure no seals have gone bad.

I would put new oil in it, pop the valve covers off and pour a little oil over the rockers/cams depending on engine type, put some injector cleaner in the fuel (B-12 chemtool or seafoam) and just take care of it. Shouldn't be too much wrong with it.

true. it's sitting outside right now. i'll take the flash light out there when i get off work to look under. tires have a little dry rot, but not enough to need changed. i don't think spark plugs is a bad idea. i'll do that over the weekend.

i got lucky with the gas, it was a year old, but just under a quarter tank. i filled it with some premium and it seems to idle pretty smooth.

Not calling you out or just arguing, but what could go wrong with the spark plugs after just 12K miles? I didn't think they could just go bad with age, plus it's a 97 so it isn't even THAT old.

Yeah, I think just about everything has been covered. Definitely check the tires out, and the belt(s) for dry rot. I wouldnt worry about plugs as much as maybe wires, the plugs should be fine.

what about wires? chances of dry rotting on those? didn't even think to look at them.
