Default Viper 5904 vs 5704

So I'm getting ready to order my alarm finally, and I've been trying to decide between the two; the 5904 (new replacement for the 5902) and the 5704 (new replacement for the 5901). What I'm trying to figure out though, is what is different between the two? From what I can tell, the only difference is the obvious remotes, and that's it. Is there something I'm missing that's different between them? I'm leaning towards just biting the bullet, and going with the 5904, I was just curious to know if there is anything else that is different between the two.

Not exactly experience with those particular models but I have the 5901 and it's pretty nice. Remote/alarm has worked from very far away. If anything, make sure you get it installed at a very reputable place. Thats the biggest factor as labor is usually half the cost or more. I think you'll be good with either as long as its installed correct.

I also have the 5901 and it's a great unit. My friend has the 5902 and from I can tell the only sufferance is the remote, it does offer great and most of all quick multi car function. So on the 5902 you can pair it with a 2nd car with an alarm and can quickly change back and forth. Not to mention the nicer screen

I have the 5902. My friend who owns the place that put it in said the difference is the shock detection. Mine has the digital shock detection built in and the new one is supposed to have an adjustable module that is better at catching the vibrations. Honestly my detection sucks, when my truck got broken into last year just after this alarm was installed it never went off until they actually got in. They tried breaking the windows and all before they actually made it. It wasnt sensitive enough. The rubber window trim wasn't letting the vibrations get picked up.

Yeah, the 5904 and 5704 went to an external shock sensor now, and it's no longer adjusted through the remote or bitwritter. It's just like a traditional one, or the optional add on one for the 5902/1 units. I'm also planning on install the glass break sensor kit too, so it has that extra little bit of detection, as well as the tilt sensor too.

All the. Viper alarms are adjustable, you can adjust yours on the remote to almost sense five enough that touching the car will make it go off!
If that is not the case the Alarm is not mounted properly and can't pick up the vibrations from the car body. It should be secured to something metal and solid

The 5701 and 5901 have glassbreak sensors built in, a very adjustable one is the proximity sensor, I saw one go off when a leaf fell on the windshield! Haha (it needed to be adjusted)
Also make sure it's a digital tilt sensor if you go that route as the ball bearing tilt switches can be tricked. I would also get a battery back up so if they get ur hood open they can't cut power to your car/alarm

The one I ordered already is a digital version, from DEI. Eventually I'll add the backup battery as well, and I plan on adding 2 more sirens, hidden in different spots too. As far as I know of too, the 5901 does not have the glass break sensor built in, it's optional. No where at all in any of the programming steps, or anything else, is it listed in there.

I know what I want, it's just trying to convince myself that I want to spend that much more money $200 vs. $330. That's why I was trying to figure out if there was anything other then the remotes that's different between the two. At the same time though, even if it is just the remotes that are different, the color screen remote is $150+ online, so it would be cheaper to just go for it up front, then it would be to upgrade to it later. I hate making decisions like this
