Ok guys, I plan on buying a car located in MI. The problem here is how will i get it through canada? . Ok, so the current owner of the car still has the car insured and has MI plates on it. Now I talked to him about this and he said in MI you have 24 hours to transport a car with no plate with the title signed over ect. But the fact of the matter is i will not be just going in his state let alone just one country. I asked him if I could keep his plates and drive his car through Canada to NY and as soon as i get home I will send him his plates back. He didnt exactly disagree but didnt come right out and say yes.
My first question now that everyone knows what Im doing is am I able to drive his car with his plates through Canada? If you can do that I will convince him to let me send his plates back to him.
If this is a no go what are my other options besides driving around Canada (which almost triples the time it takes to drive )
Has anyone ever done something like this? Ive never bought a car out of state nor have i had to bring said car through a different country haha!
