Default freaking electrical

i have been chasing down a small problem in my electrical system. symptom is when starting from a dead stop sometimes there is some hesitation and bucking(auto tranny) and sometimes when cruising there is an intermittant miss or something. check engine light does not flicker or come on. i hooked up the red snap on brick and no soft codes at all. so far i replaced and gapped the plugs, poured seafoam in the tank, changed the pcv valve. still not fixxed. bought a new front O2 sensor(brick showed it was a little lazy but working) and a coolant temp sensor. gonna install them tomorrow. also waiting on the new coils and ngk plug wires i ordered off ebay. if this doesn't work i am at a loss.

what else could it be?

Might not be an engine issue. Possibly the clutch plates are slipping then bouncing when engaging upon acceleration. Then the hesitation you fell occasionally while driving is the plates slipping a bit. A friend had a company car that did the same thing and the mechanics charged the company thousands to not fix the problem. It took an old timer mechanic to drive it and feel what was wrong, turned out the clutch plates in the auto were a bad compound. They would slip and bind then bounce when cold and occasionally slip when hot.

and you are positive the tranny is fine (fluid topped off) and the torque converter is fine?

Sound like a mechanical issue to me

Sounds like a bad or dirty mafs (mass air flow sensor) you can get some cleaner at any parts store and see if it helps.

It might be the soilenoid for you trany. A buddy of mine had sort of the same thing. One shop wanted to rebuild the trany. He took it for a 2nd op and they found a soilenoid sticking.

This. Wifey's 4Runner had exact same symptoms. After new O2 sensor, injector cleaning and tranny inspection I pulled and cleaned the MAFS. Runs like a top now.

That's exactly what I would recommend to try. I had the same issue with my lt1 car and the maf cleaning fixed it.
